Celebrating National Girls & Women in Sports Day @ Girls Inc.

This year marks the 30th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day. We invite you to join us in celebrating the extraordinary achievements of those who have effected change and created opportunities for women and girls in sports over the past three decades.

 

Our guest speaker for the afternoon will be the owner of the St. Louis Surge Basketball Team, Khalia Collier

 

9th Annual Strong Smart and Bold Luncheon

Girls Inc. Annual Strong, Smart and Bold Luncheon is fast approaching. This year we will be honoring our Committed Sororities. These organizations are comprised of Strong, Smart and Bold women who have made a significant contribution to girls and women and personify the mission of Girls Incorporated of St. Louis.

Where: The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis

Time: 11:30 am till 1:00pm

Girls Inc. & Magic House Partnering

Girls Inc. is planning to go into the history books by setting a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for Simultaneous Jumping Jacks! 

 

We want all our families to help with this major event with Girls Inc. St. Louis! 

 

Come one, Come all and JUMP!!!!!

 

Where:   Edward Jones Dome (901 N Broadway, St. Louis, MO 63101)

When:   Saturday, August 29th, 10:00 am check-in

Why:  Because St. Lou Is Jumping, and you should be, too!

 

This event is FREE, but only available to a limited number of participants!

Participants will receive tickets for themselves and an adult to the St. Louis

Rams preseason game that night (kickoff at 7pm). Tickets will be given out by Michelle Mitchell once the Jumping Jacks event has been completed.

Parent Orientation for After School Programming

Girls Incorporated of St. Louis is having a Parent Orientation for our after school programming Wednesday, August 26th from 6:30pm- 7:30pm. The agenda for the night will be: discussing transportation (schools we provide transportation from and transportation fees), membership updates, Girls Inc. programming and activities, parent handbook review and school out days/ holiday care. We look forward to seeing you on August 26th. 

Girls Inc. Night @ The St. Louis Surge Basketball Game

Girls Inc. families and friends join us for another Girls Inc. Night @ the St. Louis Surge Basketball game, Saturday July 25, 2015 @ 7:00pm (UMSL Mark-Twain Bldg.) There will be a special halftime performance from the Girls Inc. Steppers. Kids tickets are Free if you wear your Girls Inc. T-Shirts and Adult tickets are $8.00

Top Kid Chefs Showdown

Congratulation to our girls they did an amazing job last night, they came in 2nd & 3rd place at the Top Kid Chef Showdown at Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club. This Top-Chef-style showdown involved 3 teams of children competing against each other to produce a nutritious meal for the audience to taste and ultimately choose the best dish. SciGirls Community Screening

Girls Inc. of St. Louis was invited to the SciGirls Community Screening event at the PBS (Nine Network) on Sunday to celebrate girls who love science. The girls got a chance to watch a special screening of SciGirls and meet the SciGirls of St. Louis. They engaged in special STEM activities with the St. Louis Zoo. Watch the "Frog Whisperers" episode on PBS Friday, June 12 at 4:30 pm.

Monsanto Volunteer Day

Girls Inc. of St. Louis would like to Thank Monsanto for come to our Center last thurday for a wonderful volunteer day. This visit was a wonderful way for them to celebrate International Women's Day. They brought over 4 boxs filled with school supplies, they also hosted four hands- on science outreach workshops which the girls loved. Click on the link to view pictures from this amazing event.

Evening @ The Black Rep

Girls Inc. of St. Louis had an evening out at The Black Rep on Saturday. We had the pleasure of seeing the musical production of Once on this Island. A warm fairy tale about a peasant girl who uses the power of love to bring together people of different social classes.This production was absolutely amazing and the girls and staff had a wonderful time. Girls Inc. would like to thank Mr. Himes for giving us the tickets.

Coding Ambassadors Workshop

Girls Inc. of St. Louis hosted its first Coding Ambassadors Workshop on Saturday. It was a major success. The girls left the training eager and ready to start working on hosting there Google Made with Code Parties for there friends. We would like to send a big thank you to Telisa Lloyd Program and Training manager for Girls Inc. for coming all the way from Indiana to St. Louis to do a site visit for the workshop.Your comments and insight were so helpful at the training. We would also like to thank all the staff and facilitators who either helped set up or facilitate this workshop we truly couldn't have done it with out you. Minority Science Showcase @ St. Louis Science Center

On Monday, January 19, 2015  Girls Inc. got a chance to participate in the St. Louis Science Center - Minority Scientists Showcase. This showcase gives participants a chance to interact one on one with scientists, engineers and other science related professionals. The participants get a chance to enjoy this unique career opportunity as scientists, share their insights with visitors as well as demonstrate their work. We had four groups and each group had a chance to demonstrate their dancing robot that they coded themselves. We would like to thank Dr. Miller and Ms. Amber for helping to make this showcase a major success. We would also like to thank our staff, board members, families and friends who came out to support the girls. Holiday Happenings

Girls Incorporated of St. Louis is hosting it Annual Holiday Happenings event. Holiday Happenings is one of the most anticipated event for our members and there families. Not only is it the first visit of Santa Claus, Holiday Happenings offers entertainment and shopping for the whole family. Please come out and join us for this amazing day filled with the Christmas spirit.
